So on Monday, I trained for a waitressing job at a friend's restaurant. It has been 14 years since I have waitressed, because the last place I worked sucked ass, and in one year totally obliterated the previous 7 years of good waitressing experience. At that time, I swore I would never waitress again. But in the last few years, dreams of avarice have won out, and I am looking forward to doubling my current weekly income with an extra 4 hours worth of work. OK, maybe not quite, but you know what I mean.
Dreams of avarice? Well, actually, dreams of actually paying our bills on time, and maybe having some money to do cool things with, like occasionally go out to eat, or buy the kid some new shoes (or myself some new shoes, yeah baby).
( more about waitressing )
I'm not sure yet how many shifts I will be working. No more than three, at about 4 hours each.
I slept badly on Sunday night, and have not yet caught up, thus I am exhausted.
I took it upon myself to work on a Shetland fiddle tune called "The Full-Rigged Ship." This is my first real foray into trying to learn something other than the Suzuki method.
We started rehearsing for Welcome Yule on Sunday. But I couldn't sing, cause I had a cold after the Ashfield Fall Festival and lost my voice for two days. It's almost back now. Ashfielf Fall Festival was GREAT, btw, almost making up for our rained out Garlicfest.
The leaves are almost off the trees in some places, and in other places they're still green. This has been the oddest year for weather. We have still only had that one frost, and some rain and some more extraordinarily pleasant weather that makes me think that we are using our allotment of pleasant weather for the next ten years. Today, the sky in the west was a pale but brilliant blue. Definitely not a summer sky. And yet, there were still bugs singing in the field this morning. ??? Not many, but enough.
OK, sleepy and going away now.
