Yesterday, down at the beaver pond, the peepers and the tree frogs were making a great lot of noise. I still haven't heard them near my house at night, mind you, but they are certainly going at it a few miles away in broad daylight. I was down near the water's edge, sitting in the bright sun and watching it twinkle on the water; and the frogs were singing and singing away. I was quite enchanted by it.

Nature has designed an amazing variety of mating games. Who decided that biological imperatives could be such fun?
