The tomatoes are still with us, though their doom is fast approaching. The sheet I used to cover them with last night was stiff and bright with ice crystals, and there's not much time left, now, before I give up entirely on these transplanted tropical plants and let them succumb to their temperate fate. But when they're gone, the garlic can go into that spot for next summer's harvest, so that's all right, then.
