The storm, now a few weeks ago
Jun. 13th, 2010 08:12 pmWritten right after the microburst a couple weeks ago. I forgot why I didn't post it:
Late last night, a dragonfly was banging on the kitchen screen, trying desperately to get in. Are dragonflies usually out at night? I don't know that I've ever seen one after dark.
Half an hour later, with a dragonish roar, a storm blew in. Horizontal rain, high winds, lightning strikes and, in my the sense of a malignant entity behind it(lord knows, there's plenty to be angry about).
--Thankfully, we did not lose power, but many many did. And the cherry tree at my aunt's house blew over, I'm glad she went before it did, I think. It is hearbreaking, but it had been dying for years. I will miss its sweet spring blossoms, but now it will be heat for someone, and we will plant a new tree perhaps.
I'm sorry for all the gigantic trees that blew down and the damage sustained by others.
Many violent storms in the last few years.
