A few random narrations
Mar. 5th, 2004 01:04 amHaving the stiff neck from hell. I was in the middle of calling around about chiropractors today, but then I got interrupted by customers and never got back to it. I hope that I will be able to relax it enough this weekend that it will go into place itself. It seems odd to me that so many creative things are happening in my life and opportunities, etc, everything is going well, yet my body is not reflecting that particularly. Morris dancing last night didn't seem to either help or hurt the neck, although it's been slightly better today.
In the meantime, we've had more rain out this way, and the rivers are breaking free; every day there's more open water to be seen, and the ice is disappearing or washing up on shore.
When I went to my friends' house on Monday, they were boiling sap on their stove, which made the air full of sweet steam. We kept sampling it, because it was almost ready, and by the time we were done rehearsing, it was done, and put in a jar. Several gallons boiled down into one tiny jar, but a jar of the very essence of maple tree. Yum.
Mud season is here.
Politics continue to dominate conversations. People continue to come to the store and sign our petition against part of the Patriot Act. Many of them would sign a petition against the whole of the Patriot Act, if they could, I think. Sometimes unexpected people show up to sign, and they skulk in as though somebody is going to catch them. And sometimes, we get customers, like we did today, who tell us that the space program is made up. "The black backdrop proves it was a movie set," he said. I didn't engage this comment. Not responding to meaningless baiting by customers. Do not feed or tease them.
I'm ready to go home, now, though. It's been a long week. See you all on Monday.
