Back from a week away doing the aforementioned things. Despite the fact that they were both working trips, they were both very fun. New York is fascinating and makes me glad that I don't live there. Good restaurants, though, and I met a bunch of interesting folks, and saw some sales reps that I only see once a year, at this show. Some of them are tiresome, but most are pretty enjoyable to talk to.

Then I came home for 24 hours, during which time I finished the batch of jewelry I'd been working on, packed the car, and went to my kid's camp for parent's night. It was...interesting. He had a good time, which is the point, of course. The whole thing seemed a little forced, but, hey, whatever.

I left from there to pick up [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and drive to the Cape. The craft show was sort of slow, and our expenses were higher than last year, still, we held our own. Even among the hordes of women wearing khaki shorts and pastel polo tops...very L.L. Bean, aren't usually into "risky" jewelry (i.e. anything that isn't a little silver or gold tiny hoop or post). People bought our stuff anyway, it's just that a few people bought a lot of stuff, and we had repeat customers, which is always something that makes me feel hopeful. I bought a print of a mermaid painting that I loved; I couldn't not go home with it, it was so incredible. I really flipped out over it, much to the amusement of M.

We were staying with TH at his summer camp, and several of our other friends came down as well, so in our off time, we had the best company. This was the best part of the week, as far as I was concerned--the laughing and carrying on about things serious and silly. Up late drinking whisky and wine (and mint juleps and martinis, in the case of the others). Didn't get much sleep, but that hardly mattered. It was a delicious break from my routine. Very relaxing.

Back to work today. Wishing I was spending more time on my art this week, but it looks like I need to take time to be present with my other jobs right now.
