Nov. 25th, 2004 12:36 amI have been terribly remiss about writing lately. Mostly this is because everything was a little crazy for about 2 weeks...Massachusetts apparently has an "exclusion" law, brand new, in which a child in a public school who is not immune to chicken pox must go home for 10 days if somebody in the school comes down with it. In the way these things happen, I hadn't gotten around to getting him the shot yet...have mixed feelings about the shot, really...and so imagine my surprise on the Wed. before Vets Day when the school nurse called to tell me that G. couldn't come back to school on Friday, and in fact he wasn't allowed to come back to school until the day before Thanksgiving, even if he got vaccinated on November 12.
Well, he's vaccinated now. And let me tell you, a child home for 10 days when you both are trying to work and there is no other childcare is rather trying for everyone. It was ok at first, but about yesterday I had had enough, more than enough.
But he's back at school now and peace is restored to our household. At least, peace has a tentative hold on our household and is clinging to the roof by its little bird feet.
In other news, I have managed to land a part-time job as an assistant to an elder law lawyer in town. Not actually a paralegal, more like helping in the office and getting applications and drafting forms. It pays astoundingly well for what it is, and will be, we estimated, 5-10 hours a week, so that's alright, then. And helping older people keep their houses, that's a good thing. Plus I have my name in at 4 different restaurants in SF for when it gets busy again, and we'll see what happens with that. I'm ready to start rakin' in the dough.
One other thing: Violin. Not just an interest anymore. *obsessing*
